The Battery External Fire Exposure Test Machine is designed to simulate the condition in which a battery pack or system installed in an electric vehicle is exposed to a high-temperature road surface or an external flame source. The Battery External Fire Exposure Test Machine evaluates how the battery pack reacts when its surface temperature suddenly rises within a short period of time.
This Battery External Fire Exposure Test Machine is a specialized safety testing instrument for power battery packs or systems.
Equipment Composition
The fire exposure test bench consists of a hydraulic oil source, test stand, oil pan, cover plate, fire-resistant bricks, water system, oil system, ignition system, control system, and safety protection system.
Test Procedures
- The test object is a battery pack or system.
- During the test, the gasoline pan dimensions should exceed the horizontal dimensions of the test object by 20 cm but not more than 50 cm.
The height of the pan must not exceed 8 cm above the gasoline surface.
The distance between the gasoline surface and the test object should be set to 50 cm, or equal to the clearance between the battery pack bottom and the ground when the vehicle is unloaded, or as mutually agreed.
Water is injected into the bottom layer of the pan. - Ignite the gasoline at least 3 meters away from the test equipment. To ensure operator safety, ignition and pan movement are fully automated via remote control. After a 60-second preheating period, move the oil pan under the test object. If the pan is too large to move, the test object or its support structure may be moved instead.
- The test object is directly exposed to the flame for 70 seconds.
- Place the cover plate onto the oil pan. Keep the test object in this state for 60 seconds, or, based on mutual agreement, continue exposing it directly to the flame for an additional 60 seconds.
- Remove the oil pan and observe the test object for a period of 2 hours.
- Test Requirements: The battery pack or system must not explode. If flames occur, they must self-extinguish within 2 minutes after the flame source is removed.
