Test Purpose
This Combined Salt Spray Test Chamber is designed to simulate the environment in which a battery pack or system is exposed to salt spray with specific temperature, pH value, and salinity for a certain duration, to evaluate whether leakage, housing rupture, fire, or explosion may occur. These observed behaviors serve as a crucial basis for assessing the safety performance of the battery pack/system.
Additionally, the Combined Salt Spray Test Chamber for Battery can be used to assess the corrosion resistance of various materials and surface treatments, such as electroplating, anodizing, coating, and anti-rust oil.
The walk-in chamber is engineered with high explosion-proof performance and a rapid fire-extinguishing design to ensure test safety.
Test Procedures
- The test object is a battery pack or system.
- Conduct four test cycles.
- Prepare the salt solution using sodium chloride (chemically pure or analytically pure) and distilled or deionized water.
The concentration should be (5 ± 0.1)% (mass fraction).
At (20 ± 2)°C, the pH value should be 6.5–7.2. - Place the test object into the salt spray chamber and spray salt mist at 15°C–35°C for 2 hours.
After spraying, transfer the object to a damp-heat chamber for 20–22 hours, at (40 ± 2)°C and (90 ± 3)% RH, forming one cycle.
Repeat this cycle three more times, then store the object for 3 days under standard atmospheric conditions (23 ± 2 °C, 45–55% RH).
This completes one test period. Perform four test periods in total. - Test Requirements: The battery pack or system must show no leakage, housing rupture, fire, or explosion.
